IELTS Speaking - Example Test Four

Speaking Part One

4-5 minutes

The examiner will ask general questions on familiar topics such as home, family, work, studies and interests.

Television

  • What are some of the most popular TV programmes in your country?
  • Are there many educational TV programmes? How important are they?
  • What type of TV programmes did you watch when you were younger?
  • Is there something you'd like to see more of on TV? And less of?

Speaking Part Two

3-4 minutes

You will have to talk about the topic for 1 to 2 minutes.

You have one minute to think about what you're going to say.

You can make some notes to help you if you wish.

Describe a teacher who had a positive effect on you.

You should say:

  • why this teacher was so influential in your life
  • what he/she did that made them so influential
  • whether this teacher affected decisions you took

and explain what made this teacher so different from other teachers you have experience of.

The examiner then asks one or two questions about this topic.

Example:

Do you think a teacher's job has changed in recent years?


Speaking Part Three

4-5 minutes

Discussion Topics:

Education

  • Are there subjects that are taught very well or very badly in your country's schools?
  • What changes are likely in the future?
  • Do you think children should have more say in their education? From what age?

Preparing Students

  • Do you think schools adequately prepare young people for the world they will face?
  • How can we improve teaching so that students are better prepared for the outside world?
