Part 8 of the C1 Advanced Reading and Use of English is Multiple Matching. Multiple matching requires you to locate specific information and opinions by matching ten questions to sections of a text or multiple texts.
Multiple Matching Reading Exercise 1 - Multiple Matching Reading Exercise 1
Multiple matching reading exercise: Historical Novel Reviews from the Literary Herald.
Exercise Number: CAE316
Underline key words in each question before you start reading. For example, if a question asks about "a writer's disappointment with a new restaurant", underline both "disappointment" and "new restaurant" - you'll need to find both elements in the text.
Multiple Matching Reading Exercise 2 - Multiple Matching Reading Exercise 2
Multiple matching reading exercise: Gaming Hangouts.
Exercise Number: CAE317
Multiple Matching Reading Exercise 3 - Multiple Matching Reading Exercise 3
Multiple matching reading exercise: Travel Smart: Money-Saving Secrets.
Exercise Number: CAE318
Don't read every word of the text - practise skimming and scanning! Many students waste precious time reading everything in detail. Instead, scan quickly for the specific information you need. Remember: this is partly a test of efficient reading, so timing is crucial.
Multiple Matching Reading Exercise 4 - Multiple Matching Reading Exercise 4
Multiple matching reading exercise: Four Experts Test Premium Drills.

Exercise Number: CAE320
Watch out for two-part questions! For example, if you're looking for "a writer's surprise at failing an exam", finding just "failing an exam" isn't enough - you need to find where the writer expresses surprise about it too. Both elements must be present in the same section for it to be the correct answer.
Multiple Matching Reading Exercise 6 - Multiple Matching Reading Exercise 6
Multiple matching reading exercise: Magnificent Metals.
Exercise Number: CAE321

Beware of word-matching! Just because you see the same word in both the question and text doesn't mean you've found the right answer. The text often uses different words to express the same idea. For instance, if the question mentions "anger", the text might use phrases like "furious", "lost my temper", or "flew into a rage". Focus on meaning, not just vocabulary.
