My First Job
I still remember my first job very clearly. It was at a small local bakery in my hometown, a cosy place that always smelled of fresh bread. _____1_____ Every morning, I'd wake up early, way before the sun, and head to the bakery to help prepare for the day ahead. It was a nice, simple way to start the workday.
My main task was to arrange the freshly baked bread and pastries in the display cases. The bakery prided itself on the variety of its goods, from plain baguettes to chocolate croissants. _____2_____ I also had to ensure that the bakery was clean and tidy at all times, which meant a lot of sweeping and wiping. _____3_____ Sometimes, that meant working on the tills taking money from customers. Although the work could be tiring, and sometimes repetitive, I enjoyed it a lot.
The best part of the job was definitely the people I worked with. They were all so kind and friendly, always ready to lend a helping hand. _____4_____ We often shared jokes and stories as we worked, which made the days pass quickly. The friendship made the long hours bearable.
Of course, not everything about the job was easy. There were times when we were very busy, especially during the holiday season. We had to deal with long queues of customers, all wanting their holiday treats. _____5_____ Still, I learned a lot from the experience, about hard work, patience and the importance of a positive attitude.
