Below you will find materials to help you prepare your students for the A2 Key (KET) examination.
Reading & Writing
Part One: Real World Multiple Choice
The first part of the A2 Key reading paper is multiple choice real world texts, where students read six realistic notices, messages and other short texts and choose the best answer for each question.
Part Two: Matching
The second part of the A2 Key reading paper is matching, where students have to read three descriptions and then match the seven questions to the right person.
Part Three: Reading Comprehension Multiple Choice
The third part of the A2 Key reading paper is reading comprehension, where students have to read a text and then answer five multiple-choice questions.
Part Four: Multiple Choice Cloze
The fourth part of the A2 Key reading paper is multiple choice cloze where students have to choose the correct word from three similar given words.
Part Five: Open Cloze
The fifth and final part of the A2 Key reading paper is open cloze, in which students use only one word to fill each space in a short text. The words required are usually grammatical, such as articles, pronouns, auxiliary verbs, prepositions and so on.
Speaking
The speaking part of the A2 Key exam tests candidates' ability to communicate effectively in simple English through a face-to-face interaction with an examiner and another candidate.
Writing
The writing part of the A2 Key exam tests candidates' ability to write simple texts in English. The first part of the A2 Key writing paper involves writing a short email or note.
The second and final part of the A2 Key writing paper requires students to write a short story based on three given pictures.
