Below, you will find example speaking tests to help your students prepare for the Speaking part of the C1 Advanced exam.
The speaking section is divided into FOUR parts and involves students both speaking alone and speaking with another candidate.

1. Tell students to give full, natural answers. They should aim for 2-3 sentences that show their English skills without talking too much.
2. Help students learn what to do when they don't know a word. Show them how to explain things using phrases like "It's the kind of thing that..." or "It's similar to..."

Progress And Its Victims.
1. Tell students not to just describe photos. They should react to the images and use phrases like "It seems that..." or "This appears to be..." to add more detail.
2. Students should keep talking until the examiner says "Thank you". Show them how to use words like "firstly", "on the other hand", and "another similarity is..." to structure their talk.

You Are What You Eat.
1. Tell students they don't need to cover all five points in Part 3. It's better to discuss a few points well. Show them how to use phrases like "Shall we start with...?" to manage the discussion.
2. For Part 4, students should learn to think out loud: "Well, that's an interesting question. I'd say..." Remind them to listen to their partner and build on their ideas without interrupting.
